The location of the Hotel is such that the view out of one entire side of the Hotel is over the beautiful Hyde Park and out the other side is the iconic skyline of London. This created the basis of the inspiration; the Hotel had two colour themes “Park’ & “City”.
The product that Studio Proof chose to specify was T4’s Moire Glass which is Mirrored glass laminate with encapsulated silk organza. T4 worked closely with Studio Proof and the fabric supplier to source the right shades of Organza for the project. The organza on both “Park” & “City” had a gold base thread that was then two tone so that at certain angles the colour changed to be either Burgundy on the City side or a subtle Khaki green on the Park side. The size and scale of the project meant that the fabric needed to be woven to order in India especially for the Royal Lancaster.
T4 were then, via the tender process, introduced to County Contractors (project main contractors) & O’Donnell Furniture Makers. Along with County and O’Donnell, T4 were involved in all stages of the re-fit from concept, sampling & full room mock ups to the two phased manufacture of the panels floor by floor which on completion totalled over 3,500 panels. All in all from concept to completion the Royal Lancaster Hotel took over two years and is a project that T4 are extremely proud of.
